Promoting our innovation
Our International Scientific Advisory Committe visited us March 11-12, 2013 - and has spoken: Promote your innovation!

This was the second visit from the International Scientific Advisory Committee (ISAC) who consists of highly recognised international experts with a wide spectrum of experience from science and industry as well as innovation networks, see here for details and background: link

Each individual innovation project was evaluated during the two days, and the ISAC evaluation has been shared with the project partners.

The ISAC was very happy with the progress of the Centre:

"All of us (ISAC) wish to convey our compliments to you and your staff for your consummate professionalism in all of our dealings. You have undertaken a most difficult project, establishment of a new institution, for which your host organization, CMR, is superbly qualified and for which there is a genuine industrial need.  We hope that you are successful in securing the future of The Michelsen Centre for the long term."

The most important issue that was raised, was the need to disseminate the successful results of the innovation projects in a spectrum of fora:

"ISAC strongly recommends that a board-supported campaign be undertaken to publish Centre work over the next 18 months. Such publications should include both peer-reviewed journals and presentations at relevant industrial conferences, especially at the Offshore Technology Conference in 2014. Publication should not be viewed as an additional project task, but one that is essential and confers immediate, high value to the project, its sponsors, and the Centre. The reputation of the Center and its staff will be promoted strongly by such publication, to the benefit of researchers, the Centre, its host institution, and project partners. Publication of results also constitutes a proper acknowledgement of the public money invested by RCN in the Centre over its eight-year lifetime."

Next steps:

  • The Research Council of Norway has received the report for further evaluation
  • The Board of the Centre will discuss the ISAC report June 12 and related proposals to strengthen publishing in all possible flavours
