Bergen COMSOL User Group student workshop 6/4/2011

There were 8 participants at the Bergen COMSOL User Group student workshop organized Wednesday April 6th from 10.15-12.00 at the department of Physics and Technology at the University of Bergen.

Agenda

1. How to set up a multiphysics simulation coupling different types of analysis
2. Multiphysics approach for heating of biological tissue using COMSOL
3. Discussion of participants' simulation setups/problems/issues related to COMSOL Multiphysics

Summary

1. How to set up a multiphysics simulation coupling different types of analysis in COMSOL Multiphysics (by Jan Kocbach)

Step-by-step buildup of a simulation of a piezoelectric transducer with coupling to an acoustic medium was demonstrated. Also included was some discussion related to simulation of the heating of the piezoelectric transducer during operation. Simulation files are available on request.

2. Multiphysics approach for heating of biological tissue using COMSOL. Example highlighting some of the steps on the way (by Kjetil Folgerø)

Step-by-step problem setup for a multiphysics simulation of heating of biological tissue using COMSOL Multiphysics was presented, including discussion on how the problem was approached, convergence tests, quality assurance of the solution, material parameters etc.

3. Discussion of participants' simulation setups/problems/issues related to COMSOL Multiphysics

Tonje Nesse presented her simulation setup and issues related to the simulations. Simulation approach and possible error sources were discussed.

Other students are welcome to present their simulation setup/issues in the coming workshops.
